Art Deco Guided Walk Experience

Nowhere else can you hear the stories of a city’s re-birth from the disastrous 1931 earthquake and see such a variety of buildings in the styles of the 1930s Jazz Age in a concentrated area. The Art Deco Trust offers daily guided walks where your local guide brings the history to life as you take an easy stroll through the compact Art Deco city center. These local volunteer guides provide stories and entertainment as well as education, their personal touch is evident, and their enthusiasm infectious. Departs daily at 2.30pm from the Art Deco Centre. Duration 2 hours. Other tour options include the Deco Bus tour and the Vintage Deco Car tour.

Hawke’s Bay Wine Tour

The sunny , warm climate of the Bay produces some of New Zeland’s best Chardonnays alongside a wonderful range of red wines. Your hosted tour includes visiting New Ze oldest winery, Mission estate Winery, and other wineries including Church Road Winery and Craggy Range Winery. Enjoy lunch al fresco and see the famous Art Deco and Spanish Mission architecture of Hawke’s Bay. Conclude the day with breathtaking views from Te Mata Peak summit. Departs daily at 9.30am. The Master’s Lodge, Napier

The Master’s Lodge, a member of the Small Elegant Hotels of the World, is a luxury lodge in Napier with spectacular views over the blue Pacific Ocean. This historically distinctive residence was the home of tobacco baron Gerhard Husheer. The residence was designed by famed Architect Louis Hay in the early 1930s when he also designed Napier’s most famous Art Deco building the National Tobacco Company Buildingand features original Art Deco and Art Nouveau furnishings, servant bell system and extensive stained glass throughout.
